The Building Industry Federation (BIF NZ) and janda Productions are launching the Best in Build Awards (BIB) to establish a credible and sustainable awards structure for the construction industry. The awards aim to provide a qualmark to aid the marketing of goods and services across the sector.
The Best in Build Awards are designed to celebrate excellence and best practice in the building industry, primarily as an industry-facing event. They will generate profile and good news stories about the sector to a wider audience.
Awards Categories and Judging Framework
BIF says the revitalised event will bring new energy to the sector, recognising people, products, and partnerships driving progress and innovation across New Zealand’s construction industry. The awards will recognise achievement across emerging talent, innovation, sustainability, and service excellence.
Each year, an outstanding individual will be honoured for a significant contribution to the industry over a career. A newly designed judging framework will ensure transparency, rigour, and relevance, with a clear focus on real impact and meaningful performance.

The award categories include Importer/Distributor of the Year, Innovation in Building Materials, Sustainable Product of the Year, Technology & Digital Solutions in Construction, and Best Logistics & Supply Chain Solution, among others.
Entries and Judging Period
Entries for the Best in Build Awards open on October 1 and close on November 30. There is a late entry deadline of December 2 (subject to a late fee). A scrutineering period will run from December 2 to December 8, and the judging period is from January 11 to February 12, 2027.
The Best in Build Awards Gala will be held in April 2027, with the date to be confirmed. A Best In Build winner or finalist earns the right to use the BIB qualmark logo to promote their goods and services relating to the recognition.
Best in Build is more than a night of recognition — it’s a celebration of the building industry, creating profile and a focus for celebration for the companies and individuals who are the driving forces behind the sector.
